The gameplay is straightforward: on each turn, a player flips over an ocean tile to see what they reveal. They can choose to take what they find in the shallows or dive deeper, hoping for a larger catch. However, the deeper they go, the more plentiful the predators become, adding an element of risk.

As players surface with their food, they build sets of three colors. The goal is to target the colors they need to complete sets and score the maximum number of points. When one of the depths of the ocean has been fully explored, the game ends, and the penguin waddle with the best sets of food wins.
